We will wake up very early around 4:30 a.m. to start an incredible boat trip to the largest macaw clay lick in the world "CHUNCHO CLAY LICK". The trip to the Chuncho Collpa takes about an hour and a half by boat. Along the way we will have the opportunity to see some species of animals such as capybaras, which are the largest rodents in the world, tapirs and with some luck we may even spot the most beautiful South American feline "the Jaguar"; many of our visitors had the opportunity to spot them and help us keep track of their encounters with these majestic mammals.

At the Chuncho Macaw Clay Lick, located on the outer curve of the meandering river, we will see hundreds of parrots and macaws of different species, which congregate to begin one of the most beautiful natural activities in the world. Parrots are followed by 3 species of the most colorful macaws in America; Macaws with red, green, blue and yellow colors gather to eat clay, which is necessary to eliminate toxins caused by their diet based on fruits and seeds. On a good day we will be lucky to see hundreds of these colorful birds, flying above us, an unforgettable experience.

After this activity we return to the lodge, a delicious lunch will be waiting for us. Then we will transfer you to the river port on the Madre de Dios River. From the port and by motor boat (canoe), we will descend and take you along the Madre de Dios River until you reach our lodge "Tambopata Amazon Lodge", our staff will help you settle in your respective bungalow. When you are ready, we will continue with the adventure and visit the famous monkey island, where we will be able to observe a large number of monkeys of different species, as well as other mammals, reptiles, insects, amphibians, and birds. Later, we will have the option to visit and enjoy the next activity, the canopy walk (hanging bridge). A very different activity where from the top of the trees, you can enjoy the spectacular view of the immensity of the Amazon jungle. Then we will return to the lodge to enjoy a delicious Amazonian dinner. After dinner we will have the last activity of the day; a night outing to look for and spot caimans (alligators), where our guide with the help of a very powerful flashlight will show and teach us how to find and spot them. Finally, we will spend the night in our comfortable lodge (Tambopata Amazon Lodge).

DAY 3 – AMAZON LODGE / TAMBOPATA NATIONAL RESERVE / SANDOVAL LAKE / AMAZON LODGE:

Very early in our motor boat, we will go to a clay lick of macaws, parrots and parakeets; this place has a very interesting concentration of parakeets, parrots and macaws, which can be observed eating clay; which helps them to neutralize the toxins of their daily diet (diet of fruits and seeds). Some of the participating birds are: the yellow-crowned parrot, the blue-headed parrot, the chestnut-fronted macaw, the dusky-headed parakeet, the red-bellied macaw, the cobalt-winged parakeet and the tui parakeet. Here our guide will explain why the parrots gather every day in this mysterious place; this will be an amazing morning activity. Once this activity is finished, we return to the lodge to have a well-deserved breakfast.

After breakfast, we will continue with our day of adventure; We will cross the Madre de Dios River and then we will have a 1 hour walk (3 km.) We will have a boat ride on the lake, to have a closer view of the animals; it is possible to spot the famous giant otters, which are in danger of extinction, and also large black caimans that could measure up to five meters long.
